Just How They Drew It Up
Hingham - Senior Andrew Pompeo crushed a 2 strike pitch out of the park in the bottom of the 6th for a 3-run homer to snap a 1-1 tie lifting Hingham to a 7-3 win over Pembroke at Cronin Field on Wednesday. Sophomore Sean Greene pulled the Harbormen even at 1-1 a batter earlier with a hard single to left. Rob Madden continued his hot hiiting with a 2 run single later in the 7-run 6th inning explosion. Junior David Hogan was solid on the hill firing 6 1/3 innings and giving up just 2 earned runs on 6 hits. Senior Kevin Zyrkowski came on in relief and needed just 4 pitches to get the final 2 outs to earn the save. The Harbormen, who improve to 9 and 4 (6 and 3 in the Patriot League), have won 4 straight and move to within one win of earning a state tournament berth. The boys will return to action on Friday in Quincy at Adams Field against the surging Presidents.
